Welcome to Bligh House. A special educational needs centre located within its own dedicated building on the Cobham Hall School grounds, in leafy Kent, just outside of London. A Collaboration Between Mill Hill Education Group & Chiltern Way Academy Trust.
Bligh House is a new SEND centre for day and weekly residential programs catering for students aged 11 to 16 with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). This centre of excellence is the result of a unique collaboration between the Mill Hill Education Group, one of the UK’s fastest-growing charitable independent school groups, and Chiltern Way Academy Trust, an outstanding specialist Multi Academy Trust.
Backed by two award-winning institutions, Chiltern Way Academy Trust (CWAT) and Mill Hill Education Group (MHEG), our therapeutic education program blends the core values of independent schooling with a focus on SEND. CWAT’s proven success in autism education brings a wealth of experience and dedication to every child’s journey.
Our disability support school offers flexible day or weekly residential options tailored to the unique needs of students with SEND. Our residential program aids independence, social interaction, and educational achievement in a nurturing setting. We also ensure a seamless integration of educational and residential life, facilitating a balanced schedule that includes structured learning, personal development activities, and enhancement of social skills. This holistic approach helps each student thrive academically and socially, providing them with the tools they need to succeed in all aspects of life going forward.
The new facility is located on the magnificent grounds of Cobham Hall School, Kent, with easy access to London. Bligh House offers a serene and spacious environment that enhances wellbeing and learning for all SEND children to thrive. While retaining the beauty and history of this Grade 1 listed building, we have modernised it with state-of-the-art learning resources and support systems to ensure your child has access to the best of both worlds.
We understand that the needs of children extend beyond the classroom. Our highly trained staff provide exceptional learning support services, ensuring the emotional and physical wellbeing of every child with SEND. From small class sizes to expert pastoral care, we address challenges such as school avoidance, by creating a supportive community where every child feels valued and understood.
We place emphasis on preparing our students for the future, empowering them to lead fulfilling lives. Our curriculum is designed to not only achieve academic success but also to build critical life skills, self-management, and independence including social skills.
Our SEND provision sits as a standalone building next to Cobham Hall School and caters to the diverse needs including autism, mental health disorders and anxiety. Our facilities include sensory rooms, quiet areas, access to Cobham Hall’s swimming pool, sports hall and extensive and peaceful outdoor spaces. Your child will have access to the best resources, enhancing their educational experience.
We believe that education is a partnership between the school and the family. We offer ongoing support to parents and carers, including regular communication, workshops, and an open-door policy that ensures you are always part of your child’s educational journey. We also provide a comprehensive transition process to ensure that every new student feels comfortable and confident from day one.
