British Young Pilots Club at Kingshott
This term, Kingshott announced the exciting launch of their pilot programme in association with the British Young Pilots (BYP) Programme. Alongside traditional GCSE qualifications and an iPQ, pupils will now have the opportunity to work towards a pilot’s licence by the end of Year 11.
Pupils will have a weekly class with a BYP flying instructor, where they will learn practical flying skills using a classroom/desktop simulator, as well as theoretical knowledge covering everything from physics and meteorology to navigation and engineering. Each term, students will have the opportunity to fly a real aircraft and put their skills to the test.
As well as being a fun, adventurous and exciting co-curricular activity, flying can have a very positive impact on confidence and self-esteem, and it fosters real-world interest in STEM.
This could be the beginning of an exciting future take-off, and we can’t wait to see where this journey leads.
