Framlingham College crowned double Hockey National Champions

Framlingham College is celebrating two national sports titles this year, after the U13 boys hockey team won two championships just two months apart.

On Friday May 15th, the Framlingham College U13 boys hockey team travelled to Roding Sports Centre, Chigwell, for the In2Hockey National Finals hosted by England Hockey.

Triumphing against the seven other schools from across the state and independent sector who had made it to the championships, the final match saw Framlingham against Whitgift – a school who had already taken the title five times. It came down to one goal difference with Framlingham College taking the title with a 4-3 result.

Crowned In2Hockey U13 National Champions, the title follows a previous national win after the Framlingham’s U13 boys team was crowned IAPS U13 National Hockey Champions back in March 2026.

Talking about the boys’ incredible achievement, Head of Hockey at Framlingham College and Team GB Olympian, Lisa Letchford, said: “This team has worked incredibly hard for the past two seasons. The most impressive part from our second national title win was to see every individual pupil perform to their upmost potential, which collectively put us in such a strong position and highlights how every pupil’s sports journey matters. The boys have been a pleasure to work with and thoroughly deserve the success they have achieved.”

Cameron Greenhall, Assistant Director of Sport at Framlingham College, said: “We are incredibly proud of the U13 boys for winning the In2Hockey Championships. Throughout the competition they demonstrated outstanding teamwork, relentlessness and determination, consistently supporting one another and rising to every challenge they faced. Their attitude, both on and off the pitch, was exceptional and they represented the school with real maturity and sportsmanship.

“This achievement reflects the hard work and commitment the boys have shown all season across training and matches alike. To finish as champions is a fantastic reward for their effort, and it is a moment they should all be extremely proud of.”

While the IAPS tournament is only open to independent schools with a regional round and a national round, the In2Hockey tournament is open to all schools, state and independent, across the UK, with a country round, regional round and national round.

Talking about the boys’ journey to the finals, Andy Northcote, Head of Games at Framingham College Prep School, said: “The road to the In2Hockey National Finals was one built on resilience, growth and togetherness. Having already qualified through one competition, the boys earned a second route to the finals through another fiercely competitive event, one that, in many ways, proved to be the making of this team.

“Throughout the tournament, the team has grown tremendously both on and off the pitch. All the boys have learnt how to trust each other, how to respond under pressure and, most importantly, how to play for something bigger than themselves alongside the support, energy and selflessness shown by every member of the squad. It became a team where the strongest moments came not from individuals, but from collective belief and effort.

“The boys should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved and how they have all individually developed as players, matured as teammates and embraced every challenge thrown at them.”

Simon Roche, Head Prep School, said: “The In2Hockey Championship is the most competitive schools' competition. The boys, to their enormous credit, were composed, precise and relentless across a long and demanding day.

“A huge credit to Lisa Letchford, our Head of Hockey, who has built something genuinely special here – a hockey programme that believes the size of your school need not determine the size of your ambition, and to the boys, you have made us extraordinarily proud.”
