Hertford Prep appoints New Head
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Emily Jenner as the next Head of Hertford Prep from September 2026. Mrs Jenner will succeed Mr Doug Brown, who will move on to become the next Head of Cobham Hall, our school in Kent.
Mrs Jenner is currently the Deputy Head of Lyonsdown School and since 2022 she has made a significant contribution to enhancing the academic and pastoral care of the Lyonsdown pupils. In 2025, Lyonsdown achieved the accolade of ‘Small Independent School of the Year’ at the Independent School Awards. Prior to Lyonsdown, Mrs Jenner was an Assistant Head of Grimsdell, Mill Hill Pre Prep for 5 years and before that she was a teacher and Design and Technology lead at Tiverton School. She has been a governor at a primary school for the last 3 years, is an ISI Team Inspector and is the IAPS North London Lead for Early Years.
On her appointment, Mrs Jenner said: ‘I am honoured and excited to have been appointed as the next Head of Hertford Prep. The school’s commitment to nurturing the whole child resonates strongly with my belief that truly high-quality education is achieved when ambitious academic provision is underpinned by robust pastoral care. I cannot wait to start in September and look forward to meeting the pupils, staff and parents during the Summer Term.’
Antony Spencer, CEO, Mill Hill Education Group, said ‘Within a very strong field, Emily Jenner stood out for her exceptional warmth and intelligence, as well as her deep connection with the Hertford Prep ethos. I have every confidence that she will build on Doug Brown’s outstanding leadership of the last 10 years and that Hertford Prep’s future is in very good hands.’
‘Emily Jenner has all the right qualities and experience to make a tremendous impact on this wonderful school. I look forward to working closely with her and observing how she continues the great work of her predecessor, Doug Brown, in taking Hertford Prep from strength to strength.’ Leon Roberts, Director of Prep Schools.
