This term, Belmont has seen the benefits of new Mill Hill partnerships with two prestigious organisations: London Mavericks Netball and The FA. These collaborations will play a key role in supporting the growth and development of girls’ sport within our school community.
The partnership with The FA aims to promote girls’ football. To mark the occasion, we hosted an FA-led Year 5 Girls’ Football Festival at Belmont, where over 150 girls from Mill Hill Education Group schools, feeder schools, and the local community came together for a day of fun, skills sessions, and mini-matches. The event was attended by FA staff, including scouts and ISFA representatives, and was launched by Tyra Mills, a social content and media creator, with her fantastic ‘wake and shake’ session. At the end of the festival, each participant received a Belmont-branded football as a memento of their involvement. As part of this partnership, Belmont and Mill Hill are now recognised as a hub for the Discover My Talent England Lioness pathway, providing sessions to identify the next generation of Lionesses.
On the netball front, our partnership with London Mavericks is already providing fantastic opportunities for our high-performing players at Belmont and Mill Hill. This collaboration helps to identify talented athletes to join their pathway programme, ensuring our pupils have access to exclusive netball camps where they can refine their skills and gain valuable experience. The partnership was celebrated in style ahead of the London Mavericks derby against London Pulse on Sunday 11 May 2025, at the OVO Arena. Mill Hill hosted its own stall in the Fan Zone, encouraging members of the audience to challenge netball professionals Amelia Hall and Raz Quashie in jump mat and reaction pod activities. Additionally, our Year 8 netballers had the incredible opportunity to play on the OVO Arena court - a memorable chance for Belmontians to showcase their skills to a crowd of over 1,000 people.
