On behalf of the Court of Governors, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Antony Spencer to the role of Chief Executive Officer of The Mill Hill School Foundation. With a strong field of applicants to choose from, the Governors were particularly impressed by Antony’s warmth, emotional intelligence, far-sighted vision, integrity, and firm grasp of academic, pastoral and financial matters. He brings to the Foundation a wealth of Educational leadership experience and the Court are assured in his ability to work collaboratively with the Heads of the four schools and the Director of Finance and Operations.
Antony joins the Foundation following six years as Principal of St Lawrence College in Ramsgate, a co-educational day and boarding school for 3-18 year olds with a mix of UK and international pupils. During his time at St Lawrence College, Antony has demonstrated his ability to respond to the challenges and opportunities facing independent schools and has developed open and constructive relationships with parents, staff and alumni. Before St Lawrence, Antony was the Academic Deputy Head of Clifton College in Bristol for five years and was the Director of Studies at Denstone College in Staffordshire for three years.
Antony has a degree in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from The Queen’s College at the University of Oxford, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young.
Antony will officially commence his position as CEO in January 2020. However, he will be spending time at the Foundation over the next few months to get to know all four schools and the broader Mill Hill community. I am sure you will join the Court of Governors in wishing Antony every success in his new role and welcoming his wife Suzanne and their four children.
We look forward to the future under Antony’s leadership and are confident that the Foundation will continue to flourish and ensure an outstanding educational experience for today’s and tomorrow’s pupils.
